Recognize refund scams

An unexpected offer to recover your money?

The FTC warns that unexpected offers to recover money in exchange for an upfront fee are a sign of a refund recovery scam. Independently verify anyone claiming to represent an agency.

Do not pay an unsolicited recovery contact by gift card, cryptocurrency or wire transfer. Do not give that contact your SSN, financial account details or verification codes.
